Dawn -- If you intially booked a guarantee cabin and received one on the Verandah deck, that will most likely be your assigned cabin. Once the cabins are assigned in that way, additional upgrades are very unlikely with guarantee cabin bookings. Verandah deck cabins are considered very high category, so you are very lucky to receive one. Happy sailing!

We are booked on a 6 day cruise on the Freedom in January. We did the guarantee (I think) and we've received cabins on the Verandah. I think that's a pretty good deck, nots ure of course, this is our first cruise. Do you think it would be likely we could get an upgrade, or should we consider ourselves lucky we're so high up? Thank you!

Ellen - You cannot guarantee an upgrade, unfortunately, but if you have booked a guarantee class cabin there is a good chance that you won't have the absolute lowest in that category. All interior cabins are smaller, however, but you can do some things to make it more comfortable, such as:

• Pack as little as possible so you have plenty of space in the closet, drawers, etc.
• Keep luggage stashed out of sight under the bed or in the closet.
• Stash the "extras" in the room away where you won't see them and they won't get in your way -- sodas, the basket of toiletries, guidebooks, etc.

I have been on quite a few Carnival cruises and have loved them. On June 27th, 2008 I will once again be cruising on Carnival (Pride) out of Miami. The room I usually book is with a window on a pretty decent deck, however, due to financial restrictions, I had to book an inside cabin on this trip and my concern is that I am claustrophobic and worry that I might be on the lowest deck in a small room with little breathing space. Is there a way to have an upgrade, and if so, how do I go about getting that? Thank you for your advice and assistance.
