From LoveToKnow Cruises
A one day cruise to the Bahamas is a wonderful way to enjoy the Caribbean with all the benefits of an extended cruise at a very affordable price. Enjoy a delicious breakfast and lunch buffet on the way to Grand Bahama Island, then after an afternoon in the Bahamas, return to Fort Lauderdale with dinner aboard this exciting cruise offered by Discover Island Cruises. There are many day cruises in Florida to choose from, but the Bahamas cruise is a great decision for those who want to visit this enchanting Caribbean paradise.
About Grand Bahama Island
Grand Bahama Island is shrouded in a tropical cosmopolitan ambiance that permeates through the air from Freeport to Lucaya. The island is much more fast-paced and sophisticated than most other Caribbean destinations, with great duty-free shopping and a vibrant culture unparalleled on any other island. Local culture is on full display with indigenous arts and crafts lining the streets. Dining is elegant and abundant on Grand Bahama, with many gourmet restaurants.
The nightlife is explosive and provocative, though the one day cruise will not be able to enjoy the extraordinary evening flair of Grand Bahama. Still, there are many casinos, which are the most popular attraction for those cruisers with only a few hours in the Bahamas. Besides gambling, the island boasts exceptional natural beauty, with many fantastic beaches, warm turquoise waters, and one of the planet’s largest networks of underwater caves. Perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving, the island also has three national parks.
Benefits of a One Day Cruise to the Bahamas
- The one day cruise to the Bahamas is the most inexpensive way to travel to the Freeport. Passengers can enjoy all the opportunities of a longer cruise at a greatly reduced price.
- A one day cruise can be done without taking a lengthy vacation, so it’s ideal for those who want to experience a cruise but do not have many days to do so.
Disadvantages of a One Day Cruise
- The obvious disadvantage is the short duration of the cruise. There certainly is no time to waste on the one day Bahamas cruise. If you decide to take a nap you might miss the entire experience and end up back in Fort Lauderdale where you started.
- With only a few hours in the Bahamas, there is no time for figuring out your plans once you get on dry land. You will have to have everything all planned out beforehand and stick to a tight schedule of one or two main activities and attractions in order to get something accomplished during the limited time you have on the island.
Prices and Information about the Cruise
The cruise costs $99 per person for adults. Children 11 and under are free, while teens between the ages of 12 and 16 pay $49. Teens must be accompanied by a paying adult. Cost does not include $49 Bahamian departure fee. All passengers traveling to the Bahamas will need a passport or birth certificate. The round-trip ticket includes everything, such as all taxes and service charges, three meals, and free entertainment.
