Last Minute Caribbean Cruise Only
From LoveToKnow Cruises
If you're looking for a last minute Caribbean cruise only, you are probably trying to book your cruise at the lowest price possible. You can save money by booking last minute since cruise ship owners would rather not sail with empty cabins and will offer discounts so they can recoup at least some of their money.
You can find a variety of resources on the Web to find last minute cruise deals. A good place to start is with the major travel planning websites Expedia, Hotwire and Travelocity.
- Expedia has a page specifically devoted to last minute cruises. The first two listing groups on this page are for the Bahamas and the Caribbean. Just click on the number of nights and the destination you want to go to and you'll be redirected to a page where you can find out more information and book.
- Hotwire's book today, sail tomorrow page has cruise deals for several of the major lines. Some offer beverage deals and onboard credits in addition to discount prices.
- Travelocity's cruise deals page lets you search by destination, travel length and month to find a discounted cruise or to browse through the cruise clearance section. The last section of the page is dedicated to last minute cruises, so it is the perfect spot to fine a last minute Caribbean cruise only offered through this site.
Other Places to Book a Last Minute Caribbean Cruise Only
Sometimes you can find better deals going through a cruise line directly instead of through a third-party travel site. Royal Caribbean has a page where it advertises its last minute cruise deals, sorted by month, complete with a per-cabin price list.
Two additional places to look are Cruises.com and the appropriately named, LastMinuteCruises.com, which are two sites that only sell cruise vacations. To find the last minute pricing on cruises.com, just click on the cruise deals tab and select last minute deals from the dropdown menu. Sometimes you will fine a lot of cruises listed and other times there may be none at all, so it does take some checking back to find the cruise deal you're looking for.
Another way to find deals on last minute Caribbean cruises is through local travel agents. These agents often get group discounts on cruises to start with, and when the cruise lines get really desperate they may be able to negotiate great prices for you, especially if you plan to travel with several friends or family members.
Although you may want to focus on last minute deals, don’t forget about their inverse: early bird bookings. You can also save money when you book your cruise several months in advance since the cruise companies love the idea of having a guaranteed sale months ahead of time. Some cruise lines, such as Carnival, even give you a low price assurance. If the price of your cabin drops before the day of your cruise you can enjoy that lower rate no matter how early you booked.
Considerations
Although buying cruise tickets last minute may seem like a good idea, it can also put a wrench in your travel plans. There is no way to be sure that the cruise you want to take will not sell out before you plan to make your purchase. The best time to search for last minute tickets is in the off-season, which, for the Caribbean includes the late fall and winter (excluding the holidays) and very early spring. Since there is less demand during these times of year, there are more likely to be cabins open that are somewhat difficult to fill up without applying discounts.
